Welcome to the Autumn Term !
Welcome back to school and to a brand new school year. I hope you all had a restful summer! This term our Topic is “Food”. We will be looking at the science behind food (Growing plants!) and where our food comes from. We will of course, be tasting some so please make sure we are aware of any allergies. From writing recipes in English to weighing ingredients in maths and visits to town, this term promises to be an exciting term. In addition to this we have our annual harvest festival, day of culture and the Christmas production. So keep an eye on book bags and the school website (www.clareprimaryschool.net) to find out what is going on.
Supporting your child...
You can support your child´s learning in many ways at home, these could include talking, sharing stories, playing games and puzzles .
Each week we will be revising phonics and learning new sounds. Every Friday we will be sending home letter cards. Please go over these as much as possible and practise sounding words out aloud.
Please also read with your child regularly at home, this should include reading school books but also books of their choice, magazines, road signs, labels, etc. Your child will have a Reading Diary which you can use to communicate any progress or any issues which may arise. Children´s books will be checked and changed regularly to ensure good progress is made.
Transition from Reception to Year 1
When children start Year1 they join “Key stage 1”. The Key Stage 1 Curriculum builds on and extends the experiences children have had in the foundation Stage (Reception). Learning through play will continue to be an important part of the school day, but the children will gradually be eased into more formal learning as the year goes on.
If you have any concerns or problems do not hesitate to contact us and we will be more than happy to help.
We want to work in partnership with you to maximise your child´s learning and development.
P.E. - This term we will be enjoying P.E. On Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure that all kit is named so that everyone can get dressed independently.
Volunteers - If can spare us sometime in the week to help out in class we would love to see you. Please see Miss Kent.
End Of School - At the end of school children will be walked up to the playground. Please be aware that teachers are not allowed to release children to other adults without prior permission.
Food and drink - Children will continue to have the option of free fruit everyday at playtime as well as free school meals. Children are given a drink with their lunch but still need a water bottle so they can drink throughout the day.
